Helmsman - a person who steers a ship or boat.
All my Navy friends will appreciate this post......
Imagine, for a minute, that you are on a ship, in the ocean, its night time so vision is already limited but to add to the mystery and scare factor, lets throw in the thickest fog you've ever seen. You can't see ANYTHING. Nothing in front of you, nothing beside you and you're too afraid to turn and look behind you. The only thing you can make out in this dark, foggy ocean is the distant sound of thunder and the occasional flash of lightning.
When I say "ship" I'm not referring to a big Navy vessel, I'm not speaking of a personal yacht all cush and comfy, and I am certainly not speaking of a cruise ship. When I say ship, I mean something more like The Orca, you know the one.........ever seen Jaws? Yeah, that rickety old thing. Pretty terrifying stuff, right??
Folks, this scene I've just laid before you is life. More specifically my life. Its pretty scary......no...... downright TERRIFYING right now. I have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE about what is happening right now. NONE.
I'm not going to sit here and tell you that I haven't spent countless hours worrying about what my next move will be or if I will survive what feels like the darkest hour of my life, I certainly have. I've worried more than my fair share. I've also laid awake at night wondering if this is some sort of trial and tribulation period, or some sort of punishment for something I have done in my past. But, folks, let me tell you, worrying gets you nowhere. Worry is faith that God won't get it right.
I said all that to tell you this. Tonight, as I was washing dishes and licking my emotional wounds, and worrying, strategizing, and silently freaking out this thought came into my head.........."Tiffany, you quit your worrying. Your ship is steered by The Great Helmsman.".............CHILLS ANYONE???? Let me say that to you again........YOU QUIT YOUR WORRYING, CHILD. YOUR SHIP IS STEERED BY THE GREAT HELMSMAN.
What does all this mean?? All ships are different. Some are old, some are brand new and perfect. Some ships have small holes, some are taking on water so fast it isn't even funny. Some ships are massive, others are small, and some are even slowly deflating life rafts. The point is that it doesn't matter what type of ship you're on, they're all steered by The Great Helmsman, and He ALWAYS gets his ships safely to shore.
So, folks, lets put away our worries. Just peer over the side of your ship and drop them in the water. Watch them dissolve into fish food. The Great Helmsman has this watch.
P.S. There may be a time or two while you're leaning over the side of that ship and you lean a little too far........don't worry then either.........There's a lifeguard out there walking on water!!
This is fantastic!
